When you have a fence built, you want to make sure it will last for many years and add value to your property! At Northwest fencing, we use full pressure treated posts driven 2 ft. in the ground. All corners/ gate openings/ braces get a 8 ft. post that is driven 3 ½ ft. in the ground. All rails are notched for a tight fit that prevents any rolling of the rail on the post from pressure and normal ware and tear. This provides a stronger, longer lasting fence. We use a helix nail to attach the rails to the posts (8” for top rail 6” for side rail) rather then log screws used by others. The log screws are case hardened which will snap when put under pressure of the wood. Our nails can bend and flex with the wood as it is put through rough Montana weather.
